An Idea - Demonetization - An opportunity to promote digitization (Villages)

Our country and fellow men are going through a difficult phase since Nov 8,2016 which includes the rich, poor, leaders and common man on the street. We should agree that we have been living a life of abundance for some time now, post liberalization. Post the decision by the government it becomes important for all of us to think about the ideology behind the motive. If we feel it is right, let's do our part to support it not for self alone but look for others who need our help, may be a small shop owner, a vegetable vendor, our maids or gardeners, drivers or support staff.

Here is one awesome thought of increasing the penetration of internet / data usage by remote villages and digitize them. We see and hear that people at remote villages are unable to get into the digital band wagon because of mainly two reasons, I would say two parts - lack of literacy AND cost of data usage.

For the Second part - we can think of our telecom companies like Idea, Jio, Airtel setting up dedicated high bandwidth Mini-Wifi publishers (typically near the old banyan tree or बरगत का पेड़) meant for the whole remote village, free for the initial period of 3-6 months and then make it chargeable to the Panchayats, which can be then collected from the residents around through a nominal charges collected from the villagers. This will increase the level of digitization for governance, transfers and provide additional opportunities for their development as well

For the First part - The enablers, who would be the enablers bringing in literacy to these people living in there. We would for sure have to tap the literates in the villages else get people (MSW, BSW and students of other colleges) to enable them to use the technology for the betterment by doing dedicated projects.

These steps can ensure that the bullock and cart both are available at the right time to take the load off the shoulders and propel our country ahead.

Happy Thinking and Propel Ahead !!

This travelogue is about our year end trip to places in down south starting from Chennai to Trichy, Madurai, Pillayarpatti, Sankaran Koil, Tenkasi, Srivalliputhur and Thiruparakundram. We started on Monday (23rd December 2013) morning at 7 AM (All timings in IST :-)) It was a clear day and we began our journey to Madurai via Trichy on our Maruti Ritz Zxi. Me and my family were all enthusiastic for the long drive of about 500 Kms. We decided to have our breakfast at Villupuram on NH 45. I don't exactly remember the name of the restaurant but the food was just okay, we had mini tiffin ( a combination of multiple south indian delicacies like pongal, upma, idli, mini dosa and coffee ). We by passed Trichy @ about 12 noon traversing about 300 Kms.We didn't think of getting into the city rather left towards Madurai.  Crossed Trichy, Enroute to Pillayarpatti - 1 Crossed Trichy, Enroute to Pillayarpatti -2 Enroute to Madurai, about 20 kms from Virarimalai we ...

2009 Vacation Trip - Temples Galore

Guys, This is an attempt to record my experiences about the longest drive in my life on Wagon-R . I drove along with my family (My Parents, wife and my kutty 7 year old daughter) on Friday (25-Dec-09) morning. We started at about 09:30 hrs from Chennai and decided to take the NH45 route to Trichy and it's adjoining places. At about 13:30 hrs we reached Perambalur , had lunch @ New Vasantha Bhavan. The drive was absolutely refreshing, excellent smooth road (except for those troublesome toll gates). Rudrapriya was at her best jumping on the seats for all the cheer she was having during the drive. We came to know that there is a small water falls in the vicinity of about 15 kms, decided to venture. It is named " Myil Oothu " ( near ladapuram ) on the road towards " Thuraiyur ". The drive going inroads into the small villages was a splendour. Only one car could be barely on the road at a time and if there is another one, we obviously have to step down on to the mudd...
Instill Values in your Kids My daughter (Rudrapriya) is in her 6th grade, with her annual examinations nearing I see gearing interest from her towards books :). Yaah, she has started looking at her books and notes seriously. Last evening she came to me with a full size notebook and showed me some questions which her social studies teacher had shared with the class quoting as important questions to be read for the exam. It was told that 50% of the questions will come in from the list shared which seems to be a very common phenomenon. I felt a bit dejected and deceived. My worry was two fold, one is by sharing the questions they are directed towards short cuts in life leading them to be become laggards in life and the other is they wouldn't respect their own hard work which they have done for the whole year. I decided to approach the situation with a lateral thought of "why" should one accept what ever is being provided? I stated the exact same thought with my dau...
